Exactly a month and a day after opening, entries for the Rogue24 Adventuregaine have sold out. In just over three months time 120 competitors are set to explore the Lake Perseverance area on route of their own choice via mountain bike, kayak, trek and stand up paddleboard with map and compass in hand. Perseverance is the key word for teams looking to have a competitive run at the title. Some of Queensland’s top adventure racing athletes are represented in the field, and with potentially 171km and 24hr between them and the finish line, competition for the honour of Rouge24 champions is sure to be hot. But more of that in the pre-race form guide to come.
For those teams that missed out on an entry, don’t despair. A wait list has been opened and places will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Email me via the address on the contact page with your relevant contact details (name, email, mobile number) and I’ll add you to the wait list. It should be noted that all previous editions of the Adventuregaine have sold out, and that every person on the respective wait lists have been offered a spot at some stage in the past. This is because of the inevitable last minute withdrawals due to injury, non-race commitments, etc. However many of these offers come in the week or two before the race, so often offers of a place are on short notice. Furthermore, I have a bit more flexibility in the team numbers this year – kayak logistics are a less limiting factor, however catering and HQ numbers are more constrained.
Conversely, if you have an entry and need to withdraw, please contact me as soon as possible so we can offer your place to another team.
In the meantime, best of luck with your training and preparation. The beauty of the Rogue is that you can bite off as much as you can chew: training will just give you a bigger appetite on race day. Keep an eye on the Rogue24 facebook page in the lead up the race for more pre-race competition prizes from race sponsors ARea51 along with additional clues from the course.
