A new Adventure Race events company is set to hit the Queensland race scene in 2013 with a swag of promising races. Presented by Gold Coast outfit Ridgeline Adventures, dates have already been confirmed for a series of races that build in their length and challenge over the course of the year.
Adopting a similar approach to the old Adventure Racing Queensland (ARQ) series which wrapped up in 2008, these races should serve as an excellent platform for new competitors to get into the sport whilst giving more experienced racers a competitive hit out. Race dates fit perfectly as a lead in for the 2013 Rogue24 Adventuregaine at the end of April, giving you the chance to scrub up on your navigational skills and team work prior to taking on this unique challenge.
Ridgeline Adventure are headed up by Gary Sutherland and Ray Deetlefs – former Rogue Adventuregaine winners. These guys have a vast history of AR experience and I’m sure they will set exciting and adventurous race courses. Rumour suggests that they may even add a trail running event to their calendar in October, 2013 as well.
Full details can be found on the Ridgeline Adventures website, but a quick recap of dates are as follows:
Race 1 March 2nd – The Kick Off – 3hr uncompletable course
Race 2 April 14th – The Step Up – 4 to 6hr Adventure Race
Race 3 July 14h – The Culminator – 8hr Rogaine Style Adventure Race
Editors Note. Dec, 2012: Note that the date of the third race in the series has now changed to July 14th to provide teams with a better lead up to Hells Bells 24hr AR.
